This first day is a gradual immersion into Morocco’s changing landscapes. After breakfast, departure toward Ouarzazate via the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), offering spectacular views of Berber villages and rugged peaks.

We continue through the Ait Saoune Pass and descend into the lush Draa Valley, filled with palm groves and earthen kasbahs.

Arrival in M’Hamid El Ghizlane, where we meet our nomadic team and camel drivers. After around 7 hours of driving, we take a short 30-minute walk to begin our desert experience.

We set up the first camp among the dunes near M’Hamid, marking the true entrance into the world of silence.

Wake up in the golden silence of the desert. After learning how to wear the traditional desert scarf (cheche), the camel caravan begins its journey across the first desert plains.

We pass palm groves and ancient kasbah ruins before stopping for lunch in the shade of tamarisk trees.

In the afternoon, we continue toward Sidi Naji, a traditional pilgrimage site linked to the tomb of a revered marabout, offering insight into Saharan spiritual heritage.

Overnight: Wild desert bivouac with campfire, traditional bread baking in the sand, and nomadic atmosphere.

Morning trek across the rocky desert plateau of Bousnina, a lunar-like landscape leading deeper into the Sahara.

After a nomadic lunch, we reach the legendary Erg Zahar dunes, also known as the “Singing Dunes” or “Dunes that Sigh,” famous for the sound the wind produces when moving the sand.

From the top, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views stretching toward the Algerian border.

Overnight: Bivouac at the foot of the dunes for a true adventurer’s experience.

Today’s route connects Erg Zahar with the high dunes of Sedrat, crossing desert plains and parts of the Draa region.

Along the way, we discover the ruins of an old nomadic ksar at Erg Smar, a powerful reminder of past Saharan life.

We continue across the desert reg until reaching the large dunes of Sedrat, offering spectacular panoramic views.

Overnight: Desert camp under the stars with traditional dinner, music, and nomadic storytelling.

This day marks the highlight of the journey with the exploration of the vast dunes of Erg Chegaga, one of Morocco’s largest dune systems.

Optional climb to the highest dune, offering a 360° view over the endless sea of sand.

The afternoon unfolds at a slow caravan rhythm, ending with a magical sunset over the dunes.

Overnight: Final desert bivouac in Erg Chegaga.

After breakfast, we leave the desert by 4x4 vehicle (about 2 hours) to M’Hamid.

From there, we begin the long return journey to Marrakech via the scenic Draa Valley and Ouarzazate, crossing the High Atlas once again.
