7-Day High Atlas Peaks Trek: Rat, Tignousti & M’Goun Summit Expedition
Overview
This challenging 7-day trekking expedition is designed for experienced hikers seeking one of Morocco’s most rewarding mountain adventures. Starting from Marrakech, the journey explores the remote heart of the Central High Atlas, combining dramatic ascents, rugged ridgelines, isolated valleys, and authentic Berber landscapes. The route includes summits of Rat (3798m), Jbel Tignousti (3819m), and the legendary M’Goun (4071m), Morocco’s second-highest peak. Along the way, trekkers traverse panoramic mountain passes, wild plateaus, deep valleys, and traditional villages while camping under spectacular alpine skies. This high-altitude adventure offers a perfect combination of physical challenge, breathtaking scenery, and deep cultural immersion in one of Morocco’s most extraordinary trekking regions.
Tour Plan
Transfer from Marrakech to Tizi n'Tirghist 2400M of altitude. ( 4 hours driving, we can do a visit of Imini Nifri " the natural bridge". Then we can stop in Iouariden footsteps of dinosaurs).
4 hours driving.
First night camping.
we start hiking to day with our first goal,
After 6 Hours walking we'll achieve Rat 3798M Summit. then we go down another 2 hours to the camp on Tizi n'Iblouzen (around 3300M)
8 hours hiking.
Around 9 km of distance.
Breakfast early morning 6 am then we'll start walking up to the top of Jbel Tignousti 3819M after the Summit. we follow the ridge line tell Tizi n' wani to meet our them in Ikhef n'Ighir, then we continue the hike down into the valley of Ait malal to get the village of Rougoult. (Today can be the longest day in this trip)

We leave the villages & people to meet nature again, hiking all into the Ouadi of Akka n'Tfira, crossing the Tizi n'Rougoult 2850M to get our camp in Idghmamen 2700M having a panoramic view over the valley of Tassaout.

Around 10 km of distance.
We start our day with a long distance up from Idghmamen to the top point in this step 3017M, then we continue walking to the Plato of Tarkddit 2910M.
7 hours hiking.
Aroud 10 km of distance.
The day of M'Goun accent, we'll start early morning at 5:00 am. After 4 hour walking up we'll get the ridge of M'Goun 3979M, we follow the the ridge line tell the Summit of M'Goun 4071M, after the Summit we go down to get our camp on 3060M of altitude in Azib Izabeyn.

Breakfast early morning 06:00am we go down 30 minute to the Ouadi, then we walk up to the top of Asdrem 3005M, after we continue our hike down another 1 hour 30 minutes to Azib Ikkiss 2400M, then to Arouss village. The mid day meal in Arouss then we leave to Marrakech.
